Love & Kindness

While driving one day, I came across this slogan, “Kindness
builds character, cruelty destroys it”. It immediately got
my attention because it was printed on the sides of an SPCA
truck. I know this statement to be true. Several years ago
God blessed me to find a little dog that was not being cared for
and I adopted it. He was about a year old and was a little
rough around the edges, but I could tell he had great qualities
that just came naturally. Eventually, he got pass the
occasional growl, and outgrew the harm done by others
through incorrect training and his great courage and strong
character emerged.
So, when I reflect on this, I can’t help but to think about, in
contrast, how desensitized our society has become toward one
another and how it flows over into many congregations, small
groups and various organizations. I often have to remind
myself that its written “… the love of many shall wax cold”.
It’s a daily, ongoing, ever present challenge and I’m very well
aware that it can happen to anyone, including me. I've learned
that its in my best interest to stay close to God and remain in
His presence by the daily study of His Word, much prayer, and
by fulfilling my responsibilities, otherwise, discouragement,
discontentment and disfavor with God is inevitable.
