Each year we anticipate spring, summer, fall and winter and
make the seasonal adjustment. Should we not also prepare
for times of tiredness, fatigue and the stress that comes with
the seasons and transitions of life? Yet every year we do the
same thing. We plan or hope for the best, not wanting to
even think about any kind of hard time, job loss, health
problem, sorrow or set back. Wishful thinking perhaps, but
like the four seasons, here it comes. If its not to us, then it
comes to someone that we are or can be an influence to.
According to God‘s Word, its to our advantage to plan for it,
not just for ourselves, but for the sake of others too. Just
think about the scriptures that encourage you out of
disappointments, depression and sorrows. If it’s helping you,
would it not also be a help to someone else too? I draw
strength from a lot of old testament scriptures because it
represents our history. I have learned to appreciate that
God’s Word is not just a way of life, but it paves the way
through life‘s ups and downs. It’s what I hold on to whether
things are going well or not. However, to hear His Word
spoken with grace and seasoned with salt is life to my soul
especially in a crucial time. It encourages and inspires my
faith, fueling the process toward health and recovery much
faster than if nothing was ever said or done.
Consider the owner of this field. He knows each year there
are no guarantees yet he cultivates the land, plants seed,
and does everything necessary to promote its growth. Now
just look at the results. Imagine the fragrance that fills the air
all around it, plus the value that he will receive for it. Who
wouldn't want a harvest as beautiful as this?
How much more the harvest received from the Word of God
spoken in season?
