Traveling downhill with no power to stop or slow down and with
no place to safely pull over, is life threatening to all in the
vehicle as well as, to those immediately behind and
approaching ahead. Thus an uphill special exit, known as a
Runaway Truck Ramp, was created for this very reason. No
motorist plans on loosing or burning out their brakes on
descent, but things happen. However, knowing exactly where
these special exits are located between all other exits is
another matter. For who expects to loose their brakes on
purpose? Even if you see these exits on the way up, who
expects they will ever need to use them? However, if in need,
and this special exit is missed, making it to the next one has no
guarantees.
Why would a driver not take the out? It seems like a ridiculous
question but some actually think that they can make it on their
own with out it and push the envelope. Others are concerned
about the possible damage to the undercarriage of the vehicle
in the stop process. Then there’s the other possible problem
that some worry over and that is, the arriving officer on the
scene. What will happen when the officer arrives to inspect
the incident and how will all their questions be answered? My
God, what will people think? … What will people say? Then
there’s the obvious cost factor for towing and repairs that must
also be considered, because remember, the vehicle in now
stuck and in great need of assistance. Other arrangements
must also be factored in like lodging, food, and possibly an
extended stay in an unfamiliar place. It’s definitely an
inconvenient and costly incident, but in comparison, what will
the alternative cost?
In God’s infinite wisdom, knowing our human frame, He has
also created some very special exits for those souls wanting
and needing a safe haven to just stop and recover. It may be
inconvenient, costly in some way, and public opinion may be
critical for awhile, nevertheless, it’s an opportunity to recover
safely. He values our soul more highly than all the hindrances
combined. God knows how to safely deliver, so if in need, lose
the pride and take the out. TRUST HIM.

and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be
punished: -- 2 Peter 2 verse 9
