Just like it’s common to leave room for dessert after a meal -
when you’re dealing with people, it’s always a good idea to
leave room for forgiveness. If, for no other reason, that it
may be well with you - as it‘s written in (Deuteronomy 5:23).
I had to learn this the hard way, but thank God, I now have the
freedom, the joy, and the happiness that comes after being
delivered and healed of a wounded spirit. When I compare
that to all the years I struggled to suppress it, and the
numbness in my spirit that I could not shake which was robbing
me of the abundant life God promised in His Word, there is
no comparison. Now, I just praise God for His mercy, His
grace, His patience, and His forgiveness for my short comings
in faith too.
It’s just like it‘s written in (Matthew 18:7) ...
- Woe unto the world because of offences!
for it must needs be that offences come;
but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
There’s no way around it - offenses and hurts are part of living
and the best way to handle it - the only true way of handling it -
is NOT by suppression, but to respond God’s way and to
let God deal with everything else. It’s only after God
opened my understanding more clearly to His Word, and
(after dealing with my own issues in faith), that I was finally
able and willing to trust in scriptures such as (Matthew 18:7)
(II Timothy 2:24-26) & (Titus 3:1-9) and after I accepted
responsibility for my own offences toward God - did I truly
forgive the offences of others toward me. Only then was I
blessed with healing, closure, and a stronger bond with God
which I appreciate now more than ever before - and just like
he promised - the spirit of love, compassion, and forgiveness
flows again in my spirit. Yes, it’s a daily challenge, but I
understand now, and I just leave room for it - things happen,
people make incorrect choices for a variety of reasons, and
no one is excluded, including myself.
I now pass it on to help someone else know that there is a
better way - and the way is God’s way - I did it - and when I
forgave - God’s way - I reclaimed complete control and
authority over my own life and destroyed the emotional
gateway the adversary had used to hinder God’s purpose in
me.
- Forgiveness does not excuse the offence -
(as though it was okay and doesn't matter).
- Forgiveness robs our adversary the satisfaction
of our defeat (in spirit and in life).
So for you I pray - that God bless you with the strength to
overcome, the grace to forgive, and the joy of being made
whole too.
Scripture References:
- Deuteronomy 5 verses 32 & 33
32. Ye shall observe to do therefore as the Lord your God hath
commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the
left.
33. Ye shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God hath
commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with
you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall
possess.
43. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse
you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in
heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good,
and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do
not even the publicans the same?
14. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father
will also forgive you:
15. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your
Father forgive your trespasses.
- Matthew 18 verse 7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for
it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by
whom the offence cometh!
- II Timothy 2 verses 24-26
24. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle
unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if
God peradventure will give them repentance to the
acknowledging of the truth;
26. And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of
the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
1. Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to
obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2. To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle,
shewing all meekness unto all men.
3. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient,
deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and
envy, hateful,and hating one another.
4. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour
toward man appeared,
5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but
according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of
regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6. Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our
Saviour;
7. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs
according to the hope of eternal life.
8. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm
constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful
to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable
unto men.
9. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and
contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable
and vain.
