Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me:
fight against them that fight against me.
-- Psalms 35 verse 1   (Kings James Bible)

David learned from an unlikely source, that to preserve
his destiny, some matters were better off in the hand of
the Lord.  As Abigail respectfully reminded him of his
future appointment, with great wisdom also explained
that getting even with someone because of a personal
insult or wrongdoing would be more damaging to him
later on.  He had so much going for him already and with
more on the way, it was in his best interest to accept the
peace offerings and leave the ordeal in the hand of the
Lord.  Her advice, received as from God, proved to be
invaluable to him as his journey continued.

From the life of David, we can learn a lot about why it is
so important for us to put aside personal differences.
Seeking and allowing the Lord to intercede on our
behalf, keeps us out of the fight.  It keeps us from
putting at risk all the good that the Lord has in store for
us, along with any future appointments.

May God’s Word encourage your spirit today.

    1 Samuel 25 verses 30-33
    30.  And it shall come to pass, when the Lord shall have done to
my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning
    thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;
    31.  That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto
my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my
lord hath avenged himself: but when the Lord shall have dealt
well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.
    32.  And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
which sent thee this day to meet me:
    33.  And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast
kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging
    myself with mine own hand.
