And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he
cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy
on me. -- Mark 10 verse 48 (Kings James Bible)
Sometimes because of need and urgency, extra effort
must be put forth to override the lack of concern from
others. Bartimaeus’ condition in life excluded him from
being part of the popular crowd. He would have to
reach out for Jesus the only way he knew how, with his
voice. Since he could not see to go to Jesus for himself,
crying out for mercy was all that Bartimaeus could do.
He could not afford to hold his peace while the answer
to his problem passed him by. Utilizing his voice to the
highest and greatest degree was his only way to stand
out clearly from the crowd. It worked so well that Jesus
stood still and called him forth.
A voice expressing faith in Jesus must continue to do so,
in spite of the pressure to quit. The results of that faith
are far too valuable to let go.
May God’s Word fortify your trust in Him.

his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus,
the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
47. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began
to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
48. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but
he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy
on me.
49. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And
they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise;
he calleth thee.
