Let brotherly love continue.
-- Hebrews 13 verse 1 (Kings James Bible)
Allowing and keeping the spirit of brotherly love and
kindness flowing without interruption, especially to those
who have not been so brotherly, must be with
permission, yours. The desire to restrain and quench
the spirit, holding it back due to things and situations
caused by others, comes so easily and naturally after a
wrongdoing that we have to fight that resistance with
trust in God. God must be the motivating factor to
keeping that channel open, or to reopen it if necessary,
to start it flowing again.
Showing kindness and demonstrating brotherly concern
and consideration does not dismiss or condone things
out of order, but it does keep hate and bitterness from
building a strong hold within, making matters worse.
Displaying a spirit of compassion also keeps one’s heart
flowing with warmth to remain spiritually healthy and
whole, preventing it from iciness.
Putting forth the extra effort to go beyond the present to
keep a kindhearted and benevolent spirit continuously
flowing, also helps to keep other vital areas of our
Christian life in order too. It helps our memory from
fading to the fact that we‘re all in this thing together,
as one.
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them;
and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves
also in the body. -- Hebrews 13 verse 3
