Tip #3 - Prayer - Move Beyond Self
A. Be Watchful. (Internally and externally, God is always
speaking to communicate a thought, a solution, or an awareness
of something that pertains to others, not just to oneself. Often
during quiet times, reading or while praying, His message
returns again. It’s not to be dismissed or ignored, especially if
it's something that will be a real help to someone. As in any
conversation, address the issue back to God for clarity and
direction with confirmation of His Word as the driving force.
B. Anticipate. Intercede on their behalf, asking God to meet the
needs that would benefit and improve their quality of life. For
example …
- Increased Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding.
- That their Confidence & Faith, or lack of, to be perfected.
- For their Protection and Deliverance.
- For His Direction.
- Increased Spiritual Growth & Maturity - Love.
- Firm Establishment - Rooted and grounded in love, hope,
prayer and thanksgiving.
- Open Opportunities for advancement and Boldness of
Speech, especially in leadership roles.
- Completion of His Will.
- Nourishment in the Words of faith.
- Fruitful spirit in every good work.
- Peace from worry.
- Fellowship in the gospel.
- Strength and Endurance.
C. Expectation. What do you get out of all this? Why go the extra
mile? Seeds sown in goodness reap a harvest of the same
D. Simplicity. In God’s hand, so much more can be done with
far less. Specific details are not always needed when a general
prayer request like the examples above are made on their
behalf. Although God already knows the problems of an
individual and how to solve it, interceding for them provides an
excellent opportunity for us to be blessed in our areas of need too.
