Out on a limb … that’s how I felt when I began to apply God’s
Word to my life on a daily basis. It felt uncomfortable and
unusual at first because I was not relying solely on my five
natural senses as before. I was not being moved or swayed
by my every emotion and I was often challenged by the fact
that I was unable to see every microscopic detail of this
monumental transformation taking place in my life. Walking by
faith, in essence meant I was learning how to walk, talk and live
all over again, but this time, through the Spirit of God and by
the power of His Word.
This part of spiritual development doesn't just happen
instantaneously. We grow in grace as we continue to strive for
it. For me, at first, it was more like crawling, wobbling,
standing, and falling. As I stayed with it, by His grace, I found
my balance to stand in word and deed. His strength held me
up as I learned for myself through each step, that His Word,
unlike my emotions, did not move or sway with the wind. It’s
stable, solid and secure. Trustworthy.
For the children of God, each day can not be taken for
granted for the previous days victories. New winds are on the
horizons, storms are always stirring high above. Like His
feathered creatures, day by day, we must stand attentive and
unruffled by the breeze, giving glory to God. Standing
confident and strong, boldly clasping the Word of God.
Patiently trusting and assured of His promises even when it
feels like you’re standing out on a limb.
