When time is a factor or in extreme situations ...
God's power never diminishes.
Ever wondered how God’s Word would come to pass in your
life? Especially when you're facing extreme situations or
when time is a factor? Well, Sarah did - when she
overheard the angel tell Abraham that now, after all these
years, she would bear a son, she just laughed. However,
this was no laughing matter. This was no a joke. The Lord
was so serious about this that he asked Abraham … “Why
did Sarah laugh … Is anything too hard for the Lord?“
Today the question is still a valid one.
- Is anything too hard for the Lord to do?
- Are our lives more difficult than those in bible times?
- Will God not move in our lives too?
Think about every difficult and challenging situation in your
life, no matter how extreme. Whether it be on the job, at
home, in relationships, or within yourself. List out everything
that troubles and hinders you. Everything that you’d like to
have changed, and needs to be changed in your life. Now
ask yourself, is anything on that list too hard for God to do?
- Is your list more difficult than the list of things God
created and preformed when He spoke His Word in
Genesis Chapter 1. For the entire creation, as we
know it was created by what "God said". Eight different
times “God said" something … and a list of things
were created - (the stars, the moon, the sea, sun light
and these things we yet see even today.
Or just consider Gabriel’s response when Mary asked him
how her promise would come to pass, (for Gabriel himself, who
by the way, is the angel that stands in the presence of God). If
anyone knows he definitely knows, which is why he answers
Mary by saying … with God nothing shall be impossible.
- It’s this response that Gabriel gives to Mary that
answers all questions of how something shall be
brought to pass regardless of the situation.
God‘s power never diminishes … and that’s why … with God
nothing shall be impossible! But today, the real question is,
will we accept and believe His Word or just question it?
- Will we take time to search His Word and apply it
to our situation and to our life?
- Will we wait for the power of His Word to take effect
and to take root in our spirit?
- Or, will we try to work it out ourselves and
The Word of God is like nothing else. It is incorruptible,
infallible, and like a seed planted in soil ...
- His Word must be planted in our heart and mind,
and applied to whatever we’re facing in life.
- Only then will we see the results.
So bring your list of hard things and give them to God -
then let the power of His Word - process and transform it.
For as the prophet Jeremiah sums it up … Lord God! behold,
thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power
and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.
-- Jeremiah 32 verse 17
Scripture Reference:
- Genesis 18 verses 1, 2, 9-14
1. And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and
he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
2. And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood
by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the
tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
9. And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said,
Behold, in the tent.
10. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the
time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah
heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
11. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age;
and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am
waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
13. And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah
laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
14. Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I
will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall
have a son.
- Jeremiah 32 verse 17 Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the
heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm,
and there is nothing too hard for thee:
- Genesis 1- - 8 times God said “let there be”
1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was
upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the
face of the waters.
3. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the
light from the darkness.
5. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called
Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
6. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the
waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which
were under the firmament from the waters which were above the
firmament: and it was so.
8. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and
the morning were the second day.
9. And God said, Let the waters under the Heaven be gathered
together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was
so.
10. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together
of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb
yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose
seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed
after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself,
after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13. And the evening and the morning were the third day.
14. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the
heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs,
and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15. And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to
give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the
day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light
upon the earth,
18. And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the
light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
20. And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the
moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the
earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21. And God created great whales, and every living creature that
moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their
kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it
was good.
22. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
23. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
24. And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after
his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after
his kind: and it was so.
25. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle
after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after
his kind: and God saw that it was good.
26. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the
earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
created he him; male and female created he them.
19. And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that
stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee,
and to shew thee these glad tidings.
34. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I
know not a man?
35. And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost
shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall
overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be
born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a
son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was
called barren.
37. For with God nothing shall be impossible.
38. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto
me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
