Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
-- Psalms 34 verse 13 (Kings James Bible)
What we say is so important that it affects other people
in a either positive or negative way. More that just mere
words, the tone and content that it carries can hurt or
heal the spirit of those in listening range, including that
of the speaker’s.
A powerful tool that God has given, yet it does not just
happen on its own. Verbal communication of any kind is
a learned behavior and developed over time.
God in His greatness has also given us the power to
choose how we will use our gift of speech. Will we use it
for His glory and praise? … Will we learn how to use it
more effectively to lift and encourage one another and
ourselves? … Or … Will we lend our voice to the
damage of others?
May God’s Word bless and enrich your spirit today.
Word of the Day ... Speaking
For further study and inspiration:
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge
the fatherless, plead for the widow.
And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to
house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies,
speaking things which they ought not.
Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye
may know how ye ought to answer every man.
